You mean SCHOOL, then we are tight. Like THIS. *tries you push hand into own head*

Haha, Sorry.

This song is very funky. I liked the whole entrance to the e-piano. The seriously delayed drums are a small problem, though... they sound really awkward?
It doesn't sound like they have a particular rythym. Oh, you brought them back later in the song. If you just had accent 16th note strokes instead of trippy stuff, they would sound fine, but.. ah sorry, I'm picking on that part more than I should =/

The rest is great. I like the guitar work (ALL of the guitar work) and the rest of the drum work was awesome. Good work, keep it up man! Could you drop by my audio page and review my tribute to 6/6/06? I would really appreciate it =)

Triskele responds:

school...what? I'm confused.

The drums are programmed in straight 4/4, then offset 1 beat. I like it :P

Hard trance?

*shits self before song starts*

=O

I think you better be ready to review my newest song when I submit it... its going to be my 11th song! (y'now, the whole thing that my name is 'the eleventh one')Chances are that that won't soon though.

Lets start from the beginning then, shall we?

The heavily detuned bass synth was a great touch, but the rest of the samples seemed to sound to AWKWARD from the begining. Of course, I got used to them after a while, but they just sounded a little weird, thats all. Nothing huge.
The first break you have into the melody is great. I love filter FX and weird shit like that.. like the stuff -zenon- does, you know?
Starting from the beginning again cause I'm a slow typer... >=(

The first melody seems really soft for this kind of music, nearly too soft. Its really good, but for some reason it gives the song a 'hardcore' feel. Dunno why.
You bring in a filtered pad later, I think it was at the 20th bar after you did the first break? Great stuff. That pad worked SO well =)
When you bring in the trippy melody, I was like 'fuck this is so trippy'. Thats another one of the resons why I started it over again =)

This song is so amazingly diverse! Thats another thing I love about your music, not only is there a lot to listen to, its executed professionally! Jesus Christ, I want your children. =O

This entire song is full of great little breaks, awesome melodies, and seriously amazing diversity, like I just said. Keep it up!
This song will geta download form me FOR SURE =D

PS Remember to review that song when it comes out =P
Also, I tried to be very critical, when I was marking this song. But when it came down to it, a '9' or something seemed too low... so... 10s across the board! You really deserve it this time =)

dj-padman1 responds:

Hey, thanks as usual for the comprehensive review. This is stuff that I can use and it is most appreciated!
You've given me a lot of food for thought here, and I can see where you're coming from for sure.
Sometimes when I make a new sound, I get a bit over-enthusiastic with it and end up going overboard, which happened a little here!
Keep crankin' out those tunes dude, thanks again for dropping by.

Its not annoying

Its actually good for something that is done with nothing but FL =P The bassline in the backround is great, it nearly gives the song a 'goa' feel.

I don't understand the lyrics though... A little more light could be shed there =P

As good as this beat is, it would be great if you added a dark melody to this... oo, yeah.

Great work! Keep it up! Could you stop by my audio page and review my 6/6/06 tribute? I would really appreciate it =)

thanks for the review
good luck with your stuff

I hope you

put as much work into your 6/6/06 tribute as I did mine =D Yeah man. I made a tribute too =P

This has got a good dark atmosphere to it. I like it, but I have two main issues with it:

The mastering! Its distorting =( Put a compressor on the master channel. And if it feels like its being smooshed to shit, then read the tutorials onhow to use a compressor... trust me, it'll save your music.

And my second issue is with the...
Melody! It works with the rest of the song, but i'd like to hear something more structured, and not so 'goofy'. =(

Its really good though, great work! Can you leave a review on my tribute? =)

Mynewaccountis-OCON responds:

Thank you, this actually wasn't going to be a tribute lol, but I decided... well it sounds like a decen tribute, so i used it ^^. and believe me, I've learned how to do a lot more stuff concerning effects on FL now XD. But thanks a lot for your review man!

-Alyk

ps- Yes I will review your 6/6/06 tribute ^^

This is actually pretty good, BUT

Theres always that but there =P

The drums are good and basic for drum n bass, but your kick drum sounds alittle soft. Later in the song, you bring in this distorted pad somewhere... kind of throws off the whole feel, you know?

You did a really good job though! I really liked it =)

Keep it up! Check out my music sometime?

xXNovaXx responds:

Thanks,
I guess the kick is a little soft yeh.
Yeah i wasnt sure how the pad would go, i jus tried it.

Yes i will check your music out!

-xXNovaXx-

Thud thud thud

That kick is pretty powerful, I wish I had better speakers to check if there was a good amount of bass in it =P

I didn't really like the beginning. Fade ins are kind of like... blah. The rest of the song was good and trippy (the way I like it lol) but the beginning needed to have more flavor. Like a huge drum break or something, just to set the mood.

The song sounds really empty at parts. You need to add some open hi hats, a mleody, pads, etc. The song is good, but it can be made about 10X better =) You've got some serious potential.

Awesome work. Keep it up! Also, I made a song JUST for today... 6/6/06. Check it out sometime! =)

Natedog102 responds:

Thanks for the tips man! Just left you a semi-long review as well ;). Thanks again.

-Nate

Don't worry about that last guy

I think he enjoys penis.

Hahaha =P

This song jumps into the basic mainframe of trance. The Acid synths still show you you love hardcore... I'll say that it works VERY nice! The bassline in the backround adds such a nice backround.

When you bring in the arp you do this weird filter thing. I would have no problem if you did a huge beat break down and you chose a more effective filter frequency to use... that one is rather 'dull', you know? Its not bad, but it distracts.

The breakdown you had before the cheese melody with the saw I thought was pretty randomly arranged and I was 'oh man where could he be going with this...' then BAM. Awesome melody. Sweet ass work man.

Good theory, good samples, excellent technique, and a rather different and unique way of arranging things. Make more hardcore stuff though! I LOVE that shit =D

Keep it up man! You've always got my support!

dj-padman1 responds:

Let's just assume that initial reviewer is high on ecstasy and leave it at that :)

You'll have to excuse me for this rather 'family oriented' trance. In my heart, I crave the hardcore like yourself, but sometimes I just get the uncontrollable urge to make something more 'sweet'. I feel so dirty!

Thanks for your comments, and for the record, the low pass filter was put on there to disguise a horrible whiny synth playing way too loud. The filter doesn't do the track any favours, but if I didn't disguise that sound you would hire a hitman to take me out.

Point taken though...hardcore is coming :)

And you have my support also, I loved your last track!

Unique

When the beginning kicked in, I thought that the song was going to be very low quality... you should have thrown in a phone effect on the master channel instead, for more of a dramatc 'boom' into the main part. It would be also if you had synths playing in the beginning.

The drums sound good, but the bass is pretty awkward... it moves too much. Drum n bass is all about being phat and rythymic. Try coming up with a groovy bass pattern, and keep that pattern going.

Good work, but could be improved on quite a bit =)

Keep it up! Check out my music sometime?

OH-Y34H responds:

lol what is a phone effect? i know i still suck at basses hehe i made this one in half an hour :P
glad u liked it :)

Woah, you weernt joking when you said...

...hardcore.

This is the most hardcore, distorted, demented, destroyed music I have ever listened to.

Lovin' it.

I do have a few somplaints though. As much as I LOVE hardcore music (but fail at creating it) I would like to hear more of a phat kick drum, and less of a 'drowning' bassline.
A hard melody couldn't hurt either.

Good work, keep it up! Check out my music later?

ZehPhantom responds:

Thanks alot man!
ill check ur music out now =)

Hey.

The beginning is very powerful and attractive, so no complaints. Thats the prpose of trance songs, it so get your attention in the first few seconds of the song so you want to hear the rest. You have executed that perfectly.

I would have liked to hear a big synth/drum drop when the bass synth comes in. And, to be honest, I hear that bass synth EVERYWHERE, its not very original. Try making your own, maybe?

The song just finished, and I noticed that there was no real finishing of the percussion? There was no special drum stabs, no special anything, really. Just, a kick, with a heavy ride(?). You need open hi hats, claps, drum/snare rolls, big fancy things. Not just kick drops for 4 beats.

When you brought in the bass synth, I liked the backing that the main lead provides when it stutters. But the notes don't finish. It goes 'high-high-high' (not quite in that pattern, but you get it) but it just keeps... playing that over and over? =/ It would sound so awesome if you made this song more diverse, like, after 12 beats, on the 12 to the 16th beats, you could have had the drums do a break and have the synth do a huge finish-off. Like, instead of 'high high high' it could go 'high low medium' (thats refering to the pitch of the notes).

So, in all reality, this song is very professional sounding, and I like it. It just needs to be more diverse, with MUCH more effort. Not saying there wasn't lots put it in initially.

Good work, keep it up! Check out my music sometime?

Para-Noid responds:
